In this lab, I used vector shapes to create a reimagining of my jack-o-lantern drawing on Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. First, I opened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Secondly, I gone on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 bar and clicked on File. Thirdly, I clicked on New on the File tab which created a window to pop-up. This window allowed my to adjust the settings of the Photoshop document. I named my Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document "LB6_WeiJianZhen_VD" and used the default settings. I clicked on File again and clicked on Open this time to select my jack-o-lantern drawing. A window popped up showing me a list of files in the Macintosh computer. I clicked on the jack-o-lantern drawing file and clicked OK to have the image onto the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document. I duplicated the jack-o-lantern drawing by right clicking on its layer and clicking on duplicate layer. I clicked on one eye next to the jack-o-lantern layer copy to hide that layer for future reference. Next I changed the color on the color panel of Photoshop to brown and clicked on the Vector Shapes tool on the left side of the Photoshop program to select it. Then I clicked on the Ellipse tool to select it and create a circle on the Photoshop document by dragging top left to bottom right. I clicked on the Move tool to click on the circle and drag it to the top of the stem. I clicked on the Vector Shapes tool again to click on Rounded Rectangular Triangle. After that, I clicked and dragged the mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner to create a rounded rectangular shape. I clicked on the Move tool again and moved the rounded rectangular shape onto the stem of my jack-o-lantern drawing. I changed the color to orange after that. Afterwards, I clicked on Vector Shapes tool to select the Ellipse tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from top left to bottom right to create five ellipses. I used the Move tool to drag and place the ellipses onto the selected spots as the body of the jack-o-lantern. I changed the color to yellow thereafter. I clicked on the Vector Shapes tool and clicked on Custom Shapes to select it. Once the Custom Shapes were selected, I clicked on the panel on the top hand of Photoshop that says "Shape" to make a panel showing some of the custom shapes. I clicked on the gear button to show a tab to click on "All" to show all of the custom shapes. I clicked on the triangle shape which had a base that was pointing to the bottom. I clicked and dragged the mouse diagonally downwards to create a orange triangle. I right clicked on the orange triangle layer. I clicked duplicate layer to duplicate the orange triangle layer and have another triangle that is identical to the first one. I clicked on the Move tool to place the triangles on the selected areas. Afterwards, I clicked and selected a triangle with its base pointing upwards from the Shape panel. I created one of the base pointed upwards triangle shape by clicking and dragging the mouse diagonally down from top left to bottom right. I selected the move tool again and placed the different triangle to its selected spot. I created, used, and moved to their selected spots using the Move tool a combination of upward and downward based triangles for the mouth of the jack-o-lantern. I changed the color to dark purple. Furthermore, I clicked on the ellipse shapes tool to place create two big ellipses that were bigger than the body of the jack-o-lantern giving it a outline, by clicking and dragging the mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally. I thereafter clicked on the rounded rectangular shape tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally to create the rounded rectangular shape. I did this multiple times to get multiple rounded rectangular shapes. I selected the Move tool and dragged the shapes to their selected placements. I changed the color to black. I then clicked on the Rectangular Shapes tool in the Vector Shapes tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally to create a rectangle. I repeated this process again to make another rectangle. The rectangles are used as the night sky. I changed the color to grey. Finally I clicked on the Text tool. I clicked and dragged the mouse from top left to bottom right to create a textbox. I typed in the textbox "Wei Jian Zhen Visual Design 11/13/2017". I saved my document because I was finished with the project. Knowing how to use vector shapes is important to web designers because it allows them to create better art and designs in their websites.
