In this lab I used editing tools in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 to edit images from its original form to a new form. First off, I opened up Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Secondly I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. Thirdly I clicked on Open. A window appeared that showed me my files and pictures. I first decided to click on PicE and click on OK to place the image into Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I duplicate the layer to have a total of two images of the exact same layer. I clicked on the Magic Wand tool to select it. I clicked, held down the mouse button, and dragged to create a selection on the non-sky parts. I clicked on the Quick Selection Tool to select it from the Photoshop Toolbar. I clicked, held down the mouse button, and dragged the mouse button to create and fill in the remaining selections on the non-sky part of the image. Next I clicked on Select from the Photoshop bar. Clicking Select showed me a tab where I clicked on the Inverse to invert the selection. Then I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select orange for the foreground and red for the background. I clicked on the Gradient tool from the Photoshop Toolbox. After that, I clicked on the image of the inverted selections so that the sky looks like it is having a sunset. I clicked on the Eraser Tool from the Photoshop Toolbox. I clicked and dragged my mouse on selected points to erase some of the gradient too. I saved my Photoshop document and closed it to make the next adjustments for my images. I reopened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked on New to make a new Photoshop document. Afterwards, a window appeared allowing me to adjust the settings of the document. I named my Photoshop document "LB10 WeiJianZhen VD.Pic.jpg" and had the default settings. I clicked OK to confirm it. I clicked File again and Place Embedded. A window appeared that showed my files and images. I clicked on PicA which was a Family Guy picture and pressed OK to put the image into the Photoshop document. I clicked on the Magic Eraser Tool and clicked on the white background to erase it. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select red as the foreground. I clicked on the Paint Bucket tool and clicked on Lois' shirt to turn it into red. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document to place light blue as the foreground. I clicked back to the Paint Bucket tool to click on Chris' shirt to light blue. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select the foreground color to yellow. I clicked on the Paint Bucket tool and clicked on the Family Guy logo to turn the logo from blue to yellow. I saved the document and exited out of the Photoshop document. Therefore, I reopened the Photoshop document and clicked on File again. I clicked on Open which showed me a list of files and images. I selected PicB this time and clicked OK to select it. The image of soldiers showed up. I dragged the layer to the duplicate layer icon to duplicate the layer. I labeled one layer "Back" and one layer "Front". I clicked on the eye of the layer "Back" to hide the layer so that I can use the Blur tool. I clicked on the Blur tool. I selected the soldiers in front and the gun by the Magic Wand tool and Quick Selection tool. I clicked on Select to Inverse to invert the selection. I clicked and dragged the mouse to blur the layer "Front" and blur the soldiers behind the two front soldiers and the gun. After that, I clicked on the eye of the layer "Front" and clicked on the eye of the layer "Back" to hide the "Front" layer and reveal the "Back" layer. I used the Magic Wand tool and Quick selection tool to create a selection for the soldiers on the back. I clicked on Select and Inverse to create an inverted selection. I clicked on the Blur tool to select it. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse button across the "Back" layer to blur the soldiers and gun up front. I saved this Photoshop document as well. I clicked on the Photoshop bar on File. I clicked on New to make a new Photoshop document with the default settings. I clicked on Place Embedded from the File tab. A window popped up showing the files and images again. I clicked on PicD this time and clicked OK to place the baseball image onto the new Photoshop document. I clicked on the Sponge tool. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse around the boys so that their surrounding area is greyed out. I made a selection around the boys to make it easier for me to grey the surrounding area easily. I did this by clicking on the Magic Wand tool and clicking on the boys. I next clicked on the Quick Selection tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse on the boys to make the selection whole. Lastly I clicked on Select and Inverse to create the selection. I saved the Photoshop document. I closed Photoshop and returned on another day to work on the last one. I opened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked on New from the File tab. A window appeared allowing me to adjust the Photoshop document. I named my Photoshop document PicC and set my settings to default. I clicked on the File tab and clicked on Open. A window popped up showing my files and images. I clicked PicC and clicked OK to confirm it. The image of a family plopped onto the Photoshop document. First, I clicked on the Burn tool to select it. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the girl's jacket to darken the shadows of her jacket. Second off, I clicked on the Dodge tool to lighten the Christmas tree and balls. I clicked back on the Burn tool to select it. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the mom's shirt and dad's jacket to darken them. I clicked back to the Dodge tool. I had clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the tie of the dad to lighten the tie. I clicked back to the Burn tool to darken the dad's hair, both the mom's and dad's eyes noses and mouths. I did this by clicking, holding my mouse button, and dragging my mouse over the selected objects. Finally I clicked back to the Dodge tool. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the background like the trees and walls to lighten them. I saved the Photoshop document. These skills are useful to a web designer when creating art, backgrounds, or ads for a website.
In conclusion, the task was to use tools like the Magic Eraser tool from Photoshop to make adjustments to the images. The Magic Eraser tool deletes the shape or object entirely by just one click. The blur tool blurs out your selected parts of your selected areas you want to blur making it fuzzy and hard to see. The Dodge tool lightens up the image or selected part of your image creating a brighter contrast. The Burn tool is the opposite of the Dodge tool which darkens the selected parts of your image creating a darker contrast. The Sponge tool desaturates your selected parts of your images creating a black and white effect. The Paint Bucket tool changes and fills in a color for a part of your image while the Gradient tool changes the color of your selected area with varying colors the farther you go.
The Blending Mode blends two colors into one color that is a combination of the two colors. These tools could've helped me on Lab 7, Lab 8, and Lab 9. This is because for Lab 7, I could've used the Dodge tool to lighten up the background instead of using the filters on the Photoshop tab. For Lab 8, I could've used the Blur tool to blur the background instead of making a mask for the turkey and applying a blur to it from the Photoshop bar. For Lab 9, I could've used the Burn tool to darken the shadows of the word instead of going into multiple settings just to make the word darker. The Magic Eraser tool best fits for myself because the tool is easy and efficient at doing its job.
