Lab 13 Reflection Journal

In this lab, I used primarily the pen tool to create custom lines and shapes for the Chapter 3 Sample Quiz from https://s2.jupiterfiles.com/p1/36460875/1/844430766/Adobe_CC_Design_Basics_v18.pdf.
First I clicked on the link shown above. ↑↑↑ Next I scrolled down to the Adobe Illustrator section to the Chapter 3 Sample Quiz. After that, I had to follow the steps of the Chapter 3 Sample Quiz. To do this, I opened up Adobe Illustrator CC 2017. Therefore, I gone to the Illustrator bar and clicked on File. Now from the File tab, I clicked on New to show a window for the settings of my new document. I set the document to default settings and named it Chapter 3 sample quiz. A new Illustrator document appeared for me to do the Chapter 3 Sample Quiz. Then I clicked on the Pen tool from the Illustrator toolbox to select it. I created a line with the Pen tool with 5 corner points that looks like a mountain by clicking and dragging the mouse to selected points. Next, I created another line that curves to form something like two hills. I did this by clicking, holding the mouse button, and dragging the mouse pointer to a selected area. I moved my mouse in a direction to make the curve happen and clicked to confirm. I clicked again at the end of the first line to make a second line. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse button until I reached a certain point. I released the mouse button and moved in a direction until my desired curved was selected. I clicked to confirm it. Secondly, while still using the Pen tool I made a clicked and dragged upwards to make a new line going straight up. I clicked at the end of the vertical line. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse horizontally until a certain point. I moved my mouse in a direction to make the line curve upwards. I clicked to confirm the curve. After that, I clicked at the end of the curved line. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse from the end of the curved point to the desired point. I moved my mouse to make an upwards curve. I clicked to confirm the second curved line. I clicked at the end of the curved line and made another vertical line. I clicked and dragged until I came to the desired point. I clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the second vertical line. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse button until I reached a certain point. I dragged the mouse button until I made a downward curve. I clicked to confirm it. I repeated the previous step until I had the last curved line meet up with first vertical line. I clicked to confirm it. I clicked on the color picker to make the now created shape gray. Thirdly, I created a new line going vertically curving to the right a bit. I clicked at the end of the new line and dragged the mouse to the right until I reached a certain point where I clicked to confirm the line. I then placed a new line clicking at the end of the horizontal line to a certain point going downwards. I clicked at the end of the vertical line, held my mouse button, and dragged the mouse until I was at a certain point. I moved my mouse vertically to make the line curve upwards. I clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the curved line, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse to a desired point. I dragged the mouse vertically to make the curve downwards. I clicked at the end of the downwards curved line, held my mouse button, and dragged the mouse pointer until it reached the curved line to turn it into a shape. I clicked on the color picker and turned the new shape to blue. I clicked on the ellipse tool, clicked, held the mouse button, held the shift key, and dragged the mouse button until a circle was made on the blue shape. I clicked on the color picker and made the circle white. Underneath the blue shape, I created a new shape. I clicked on the Pen tool and started on the new shape. I clicked at a point and dragged the mouse upwards. I clicked on the mouse to confirm the vertical line. I clicked with the mouse at the end of the vertical line. I dragged and held the mouse to the right until a certain point was reached. I dragged the mouse vertically to make the line curve upwards and clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the upwards curved line, held the mouse button, and dragged the mouse to a desired point. I dragged my mouse vertically to make the line curve downwards and clicked on the mouse to confirm the curvature. I clicked at the end of the downwards curved line, held my mouse button, and dragged the mouse to a certain point. I dragged the mouse vertically again to make the line curve upwards and clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the previous line and dragged the mouse downwards. I clicked to confirm the vertical line. I clicked at the end of the vertical line, held my mouse button, and dragged the mouse to the first vertical line. I dragged the mouse vertically to create an upwards curve and clicked to confirm the shape. I clicked on the color picker and made the new shape dark blue. Underneath the new green shape, I clicked at a point, dragged my mouse upwards, and clicked to confirm the new line. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse button from the end of the vertical line to a new point. I dragged my mouse vertically until the line was curved upwards and clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the upwards curved line, dragged my mouse downwards, and clicked to confirm it. I clicked at the end of the second vertical line, held my mouse button, and dragged the mouse over to the end of the first vertical line. I dragged the mouse vertically to make the curve go downwards and clicked to confirm. I clicked on the color picker to make the new shape green. For step 4, I created a gray droplet using the Pen tool and vertical guides.  I clicked Vertical guides from the Illustrator toolbox. I clicked on the Pen tool. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse from one point to another curving the line by moving the mouse horizontally. I clicked to confirm it. I clicked and dragged the line that was attached to the line to try to make the curve as exact as the curve in the pdf. I clicked at the end of the curved line, held my mouse button, dragged the mouse to the other end of the curved line, dragged horizontally to make the line curve to the left, and clicked to confirm it. I clicked and dragged the line attached to the curved line to make the exact adjustments. I made the droplet and clicked on the color picker to make the droplet grey. I clicked on the gray droplet and held options. I dragged the gray droplet while holding options to duplicate the droplet. I did this 4 times until I had 4 gray droplets. I selected the 4 gray droplets and clicked on Object to Transform from the Illustrator bar. I clicked on Scale from Transform to make the 4 droplets 50% smaller than their original size. I clicked on 3 out of the 4 droplets and clicked on Rotate this time from Transform to Rotate the droplets to the desired angle. I rearranged the 4 droplet to make them into a cross like arrangement. Finally, I clicked outside of the 4 droplets, dragged my mouse to a point, clicked, dragged my mouse to another point, clicked, dragged my mouse to another point, clicked, dragged my mouse to another point, clicked, dragged my mouse to the first point, clicked, and created rhombus. I clicked on the color picker to change the color to white for the rhombus. I clicked on arrange from the Illustrator bar to send the white square to the back. Knowing how to use Adobe Illustrator CC 2017 is useful for web designers because it allows web designers to make ads and logos for their websites.

Lab 12 Reflection Journals (NOW ADOBE ILLUSTRATOR!)

In this lab, I used Adobe Illustrator to create the following objects from Chapter 2's pages 31 and 32 of https://s2.jupiterfiles.com/p1/36460875/1/844430766/Adobe_CC_Design_Basics_v18.pdf. First I opened up Adobe Illustrator CC 2017. Next I clicked on the pen tool at the toolbar to the left. I dragged my mouse onto the top left hand corner of the Illustrator document. I clicked on the selected point of the Illustrator document. After that, I dragged the mouse pointer to the right at a 0 degree angle until I have the desired length. I pressed enter to confirm the line. I then gone above the drawn line and clicked at the desired point. I dragged my mouse pointer from the desired point to the bottom until the selected length was acquired which intersected with the previous line. Afterwards, I held on the rectangular object tool which showed a tab allowing me to click on the ellipse tool. Once selected, I dragged my mouse button onto the Illustrator document at the top left side of the two lines. I clicked, held the mouse button and shift after holding the mouse button, and dragged the mouse button from the top left side onto the lower left side of the two lines. I made a circle on covering the two lines. I used the arrow keys to make the circle cover the entire two lines. After that, I clicked on the top hand corner of the Illustrator bar and clicked on Object. I clicked on Arrange from the Object's tab.  When the Arrange panel opened, I clicked on send to the back to have the ellipse on the back with the two lines covering the ellipse. The first part is done with the arrangement looking like a crosshair. Now for the second part! First I clicked on the Line tool. I dragged my mouse pointer onto the Illustrator document below the crosshair. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse from one point on the left to one point to the right. I released the mouse button. I clicked on the color panel and clicked on red to make the line red. I set the line to 8 pt next to the Stroke above the Illustrator document. I clicked on Stroke and made the line curved, dashed, 12 point dash, and 18 point dash. I clicked on the selection tool to confirm part 2. I clicked on the Rectangular tool to start part 3. I first clicked, held down the mouse button and shift, and dragged my mouse button from the upper left hand corner to the lower right hand corner. I clicked on the Direct Selection tool. I clicked on the point at the top hand corner of the square. I dragged the corner until the square looked like an arrow. Part 3 is finished! I did the same exact steps in part 3 to make another arrow. I clicked out of the square once it has been created to confirm it and in once the confirmation was completed. I clicked on the color panel and turned the square to green. Then I made another square using the Rectangular tool. I clicked on the Direct Selection tool. I clicked outside the square to confirm it. I clicked in the square at the lower left hand corner to dragged the point to make the square look like an arrow. I clicked the color panel to change the second arrow to red. I clicked on the Selection tool to dragged the arrows perpendicular to each other. I was now done with part 4. I clicked, held my mouse button, held down Options or Alt, and dragged the arrows to the right mirroring part 4. I clicked on the Line tool to draw a line connecting the two arrows. I undid all the line settings and had the line thickness wider. I finished part 5 after that. Now for part 6, I created a what was supposedly a dog using the Illustrator tools that I have learned so far or used. First I clicked on the Rectangular tool. I clicked and dragged the mouse from the top left to bottom right to create a square. I selected orange from the color panel to make the square orange. I did the same thing again to make a second orange square. I clicked on the Ellipse tool. I created one yellow circle as the face of the dog, two white circles as the dog's eyeballs, two black circles as the dog's pupils, one magenta circle as the dog's mouth, and one red circle as the dog's tongue. I clicked on the Rounded Rectangular tool. I clicked and dragged the mouse from the top left to the bottom right. I clicked on the Direct Selection tool and clicked outside of the rounded rectangle. I clicked on the points of the rounded rectangle and dragged them upwards to make a dog nose. I made the nose black also from the rounded rectangular tool. I clicked on the Text tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from a top left hand corner to a lower right hand corner. I typed in "WOOF" to create dialogue for the dog. I saved the Illustrator document as I was done with Lab 12.  Knowing how to use Adobe Illustrator is useful for web designers so that they can create images, art, and logos for their website.

Lab 11 Reflection Journal

In this lab, I used a multitude of tools from Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 to create image adjustments on the assigned picture. First off, I opened up Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar on the top hand corner of the program. I clicked on File which showed a tab and clicked on New. When that happened, a window popped up showing the settings and options for the Photoshop document. I named my document "LB11_WeiJianZhen_VD" and kept the default settings. I clicked on File again and clicked on Open to show a window that has my files and images on it. I clicked on Anew.jpg from the window to start my project. The image opened up on the Photoshop document. Second off, I clicked on the zoom tool and clicked many times on the girl's hat until the desired zoom was created. Thirdly, I clicked on the Quick Selection tool to click and drag on the hat to make a selection. I clicked on the Magnetic Lasso tool. I encircled the areas of the hat that were not selected be the Quick Selection tool by clicking and dragging the mouse. Next I set the color to green from the Color Picker and I clicked on the Color Replacement tool. I clicked on the options bar in the top hand corner of Photoshop. I clicked on the Brush pop-up panel. I set the hardness to 40%, size to 15 pixels, spacing 25%, and off for size and tolerance menus. I clicked out of the Brush pop-up panel to exit out of it. In the Brush pop-up panel, I set Hue from the Mode menu, Continuos from Sampling, tolerance to 32% from the Find Edges from the Limits menu, and Anti-Alias selected. Next, I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse onto the selection and throughout the hat. Once done, I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on Select which showed a tab so I can click on Deselect to remove the selection. Then I clicked on the Clone Stamp tool to select it. I gone to the options bar again and opened the pop-up menu. I set the size to 21% and the hardness to 0%. I made sure that the Aligned option is selected and opacity set to 100%. After that, I placed my mouse over the bricks of the image. I held down Alt/Options and clicked on the bricks to select the texture of the bricks. Therefore, I clicked and dragged my mouse across the rectangular graffiti right next to the girl's now freshly green colored hat. Afterwards, I clicked on the Spot Healing Brush tool to select the tool. At the options bar, I opened the Brush pop-up menu and used a 100% hard brush that was 40 pixels in diameter. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse over the dark spots on the brick wall at the top left hand corner until all the dark spot were covered. I had let go of the mouse to rid the wall of the dark spots and turn them into regular bricks. I clicked on the Quick Selection tool to select it. I popped-up the options bar and selected the Brush pop-up menu. I set the brush size to 3 pixels. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse over the crack on the wall thereafter. I clicked on Edit on the Photoshop bar which showed a tab that allowed me to click on Fill. When the Fill dialog box opened, I chose Content-Aware from the Use menu. I clicked OK to confirm. Now the crack disappeared and became bricks that matched up the wall's other bricks. I gone to the Photoshop bar again to click on Select. I clicked on Deselect from the Select tab to deselect the selection. After that, I clicked on the Quick Selection tool again to select the darker areas of the left edge of the wall. I clicked on Edit from the Photoshop bar. Now by pressing Edit, it showed a tab that allowed me to click on Fill. When the Fill dialog box appeared, I chose Content-Aware from the Use menu. I clicked OK to confirm. I clicked on Select to Deselect to make the selection disappear. I saved the first part of my lab. I gone to the Photoshop bar and pressed on File. I clicked on New from the File tab to create a new Photoshop document. A window appeared showing me the settings off the new Photoshop document. I named it Bnew and kept the default settings. Next I gone to File again and clicked on Open this time. A window popped up showing my files and pictures. I clicked on the picture called Bnew and clicked OK to place the image onto Photoshop. I clicked on the Clone tool from the Photoshop toolbox. I moved my mouse over to a patch of grass, held down Alt/Options, and clicked once to select that texture. Then I held down the mouse button and dragged the mouse over the grey area on the bottom left hand corner of the image to make it have grass. After that, I clicked on the Spot Healing Brush tool to select it. I clicked on the sprinklers of the image to make the sprinklers turn into patches of grass. I saved the second part of the lab and closed Photoshop thereafter. I reopened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I clicked on Open from the Photoshop bar which showed my images and files. I clicked on the Cnew image and clicked OK to confirm the image onto Photoshop. I clicked on the Healing Brush tool and moved the mouse pointer over the letters DJ on the rock. I held my mouse button and dragged it on the letters DJ to get rid of the letters DJ. I clicked on the Patch tool now to select it.  I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse pointer around the holes and cracks of the rocks. Once I had all of the desired holes and cracks of the rocks selected, I moved the selections over to a patch of rock that doesn't have holes or cracks by dragging the selection towards a desired spot. I saved the third part off the lab and closed Photoshop. I reopened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked Open when the File tab arrived. I clicked on Dnew fro the window that appeared from clicking Open and clicked OK. I right clicked on the background layer showing the image of Dnew. I left clicked on Duplicate to duplicate the background layer. I named the new layer Retouch. Soon after, I clicked on the Healing Brush tool and set the pixel brush size to 12. I clicked and dragged my mouse over the wrinkles on his forehead and furrow lines to erase them. I clicked on the Patch tool to select it. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse around the wrinkles under the man's eyes and on his glasses under his eyes. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse from the selection to a part of the man's face that has no or fewer wrinkles. The man became less wrinkly! I set the opacity to 65% from the right side of Photoshop. I saved the final part of lab 11. Knowing how to use the Patch tool, Healing Brush tool, Clone tool, and Content aware is useful to web designer when creating art or backgrounds for their websites or for their company.

Lab 10 Editing tools Reflection Journal

In this lab I used editing tools in Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 to edit images from its original form to a new form. First off, I opened up Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Secondly I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. Thirdly I clicked on Open. A window appeared that showed me my files and pictures. I first decided to click on PicE and click on OK to place the image into Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I duplicate the layer to have a total of two images of the exact same layer. I clicked on the Magic Wand tool to select it. I clicked, held down the mouse button, and dragged to create a selection on the non-sky parts. I clicked on the Quick Selection Tool to select it from the Photoshop Toolbar. I clicked, held down the mouse button, and dragged the mouse button to create and fill in the remaining selections on the non-sky part of the image. Next I clicked on Select from the Photoshop bar. Clicking Select showed me a tab where I clicked on the Inverse to invert the selection. Then I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select orange for the foreground and red for the background. I clicked on the Gradient tool from the Photoshop Toolbox. After that, I clicked on the image of the inverted selections so that the sky looks like it is having a sunset. I clicked on the Eraser Tool from the Photoshop Toolbox. I clicked and dragged my mouse on selected points to erase some of the gradient too. I saved my Photoshop document and closed it to make the next adjustments for my images. I reopened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked on New to make a new Photoshop document. Afterwards, a window appeared allowing me to adjust the settings of the document. I named my Photoshop document "LB10 WeiJianZhen VD.Pic.jpg" and had the default settings. I clicked OK to confirm it. I clicked on PicA which was a Family Guy picture and pressed OK to put the image into the Photoshop document. I clicked on the Magic Eraser Tool and clicked on the white background to erase it. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select red as the foreground. I clicked on the Paint Bucket tool and clicked on Lois' shirt to turn it into red. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document to place light blue as the foreground. I clicked back to the Paint Bucket tool to click on Chris' shirt to light blue. I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 color picker to select the foreground color to yellow. I clicked on the Paint Bucket tool and clicked on the Family Guy logo to turn the logo from blue to yellow. I saved the document and exited out of the Photoshop document. Therefore, I reopened the Photoshop document and clicked on File again. I clicked on Open which showed me a list of files and images. I selected PicB this time and clicked OK to select it. The image of soldiers showed up. I dragged the layer to the duplicate layer icon to duplicate the layer. I labeled one layer "Back" and one layer "Front". I clicked on the eye of the layer "Back" to hide the layer so that I can use the Blur tool. I clicked on the Blur tool. I selected the soldiers in front and the gun by the Magic Wand tool and Quick Selection tool. I clicked on Select to Inverse to invert the selection. I clicked and dragged the mouse to blur the layer "Front" and blur the soldiers behind the two front soldiers and the gun. After that, I clicked on the eye of the layer "Front" and clicked on the eye of the layer "Back" to hide the "Front" layer and reveal the "Back" layer. I used the Magic Wand tool and Quick selection tool to create a selection for the soldiers on the back. I clicked on Select and Inverse to create an inverted selection. I clicked on the Blur tool to select it. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse button across the "Back" layer to blur the soldiers and gun up front. I saved this Photoshop document as well. I clicked on the Photoshop bar on File. I clicked on New to make a new Photoshop document with the default settings. I clicked on Place Embedded from the File tab. A window popped up showing the files and images again. I clicked on PicD this time and clicked OK to place the baseball image onto the new Photoshop document. I clicked on the Sponge tool. I clicked, held, and dragged my mouse around the boys so that their surrounding area is greyed out.  I made a selection around the boys to make it easier for me to grey the surrounding area easily. I did this by clicking on the Magic Wand tool and clicking on the boys. I next clicked on the Quick Selection tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse on the boys to make the selection whole. Lastly I clicked on Select and Inverse to create the selection. I saved the Photoshop document. I closed Photoshop and returned on another day to work on the last one. I opened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked on New from the File tab. A window appeared allowing me to adjust the Photoshop document. I named my Photoshop document PicC and set my settings to default. I clicked on the File tab and clicked on Open. A window popped up showing my files and images. I clicked PicC and clicked OK to confirm it. The image of a family plopped onto the Photoshop document. First, I clicked on the Burn tool to select it. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the girl's jacket to darken the shadows of her jacket. Second off, I clicked on the Dodge tool to lighten the Christmas tree and balls. I clicked back on the Burn tool to select it. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the mom's shirt and dad's jacket to darken them. I clicked back to the Dodge tool. I had clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the tie of the dad to lighten the tie. I clicked back to the Burn tool to darken the dad's hair, both the mom's and dad's eyes noses and mouths. I did this by clicking, holding my mouse button, and dragging my mouse over the selected objects. Finally I clicked back to the Dodge tool. I clicked, held my mouse button, and dragged my mouse onto the background like the trees and walls to lighten them. I saved the Photoshop document. These skills are useful to a web designer when creating art, backgrounds, or ads for a website.
In conclusion, the task was to use tools like the Magic Eraser tool from Photoshop to make adjustments to the images. The Magic Eraser tool deletes the shape or object entirely by just one click. The blur tool blurs out your selected parts of your selected areas you want to blur making it fuzzy and hard to see. The Dodge tool lightens up the image or selected part of your image creating a brighter contrast. The Burn tool is the opposite of the Dodge tool which darkens the selected parts of your image creating a darker contrast. The Sponge tool desaturates your selected parts of your images creating a black and white effect. The Paint Bucket tool changes and fills in a color for a part of your image while the Gradient tool changes the color of your selected area with varying colors the farther you go.
The Blending Mode blends two colors into one color that is a combination of the two colors. These tools could've helped me on Lab 7, Lab 8, and Lab 9. This is because for Lab 7, I could've used the Dodge tool to lighten up the background instead of using the filters on the Photoshop tab. For Lab 8, I could've used the Blur tool to blur the background instead of making a mask for the turkey and applying a blur to it from the Photoshop bar. For Lab 9, I could've used the Burn tool to darken the shadows of the word instead of going into multiple settings just to make the word darker. The Magic Eraser tool best fits for myself because the tool is easy and efficient at doing its job.

Museum Class Trip Blog Reflection Journal

Today, I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art at 1000 5th Ave, New York, NY 10028, United States of America. I saw glorious paintings, beautiful sculptures, great murals, and exhibits that made my mind think. I observed art in many different cultures and backgrounds that created man differences between the murals, sculptures, exhibits, and paintings.  I learnt about the techniques that the artists used which made the art stand out and illustrated the emotions through us. I learnt that art can be expressed in many different ways. Another thing I had learned from visiting the Metropolitan Museum of Art was how different placements of colors, shapes, and lines can change our perspective on how we view the art and what the artist is trying to send a message across. Furthermore, I learned about the different objects used the make the art. For example, an artist used a sponge for one painting to create a resounding effect. Another artist weaved together a bunch of materials like aluminum and fabric by using copper wire which created a great effect that reflected the lighting making the art seem vibrant. I learned that you can control your strokes and lines when painting abstract art using a paintbrush hovering over the air with paint. Also, I learned about how the artist used materials ranging from objects found in the trash to objects online to create and design their art. Now since I gone to the Metropolitan Museum of Art to learn about artistic techniques and design, I think I would use and remix some elements of the artists that had their art displayed in the Metropolitan Museum of Art in my website with my own originality. I would design my website to mirror my passion for games and technology. I would have colorful and vibrant backgrounds. I would have clear and direct User Interface so that users would have easy access to my website. I would have games and videos on tabs and pages. I would have a FAQ or a DBQ so that people can talk about website related topics. I would also have a rating system so that people can rate my or others games and videos. I would design it to my target audience, (mostly gamers) by placing gaming themes. Another way would be placing internet culture because most of my audience would get most of the elements I put into my website. Furthermore I would place games for my target audience to play that they might enjoy.  Also, I would place texts like "Action Games" or "Puzzle Fun Fare" so my target audience will know what my website is about. So when the gamers come to my site, they would most likely feel welcome and at home.

The image appeared on the Photoshop document. I held down shift, clicked on the right hand side of the image, held down the mouse, dragged the image to the right, let go of the mouse, moved the cursor to the left side of the image, held down the mouse, dragged the image to the left, let go of the mouse, let go of the shift key, and clicked on the Move tool to confirm the image adjustments. I clicked on the Magic Wand tool to select it. I clicked and dragged my mouse onto the image until most of the selection was covered over Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Therefore, I clicked on the Quick Selection tool to fill in the rest of my selection until all of the selection was covered on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I clicked on the Magnetic Lasso tool to select it. I clicked on the subtraction option button on the top hand corner of Photoshop. I clicked and moved the mouse around the selections I want to remove so I can only have the selection on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I clicked on the combine option button to add missing selections. Using the same method as subtract selection to remove them, I added the missing selections to have only the selection on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Once the selection has been done, I gone to the Photoshop bar to click on Select and clicked on Inverse. I clicked on the mask button on the lower right hand corner of Photoshop to create a mask (meaning cutout in this case) of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I clicked on the paths tab to create a path. I clicked on the layer with the original Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and clicked on the eye icon to hide the image so that the mask only shows up on the Photoshop document. After that, I clicked on the text tool. I clicked just outside the mask to type in the words of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. multiple times, "We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope." This made a outline of the mask. I clicked on the New Layer button to create a new layer from the lower right hand corner of Photoshop. Afterwards I clicked on the color and contrast button on the lower left hand corner of Photoshop. I clicked on New Color Fill LAyer to fill in the new layer blue. I moved the blue layer above the mask but below the text layers to create a blue background with the words outlining to create a silhouette of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Finally I saved the Photoshop document and went on to do the other half of this project.

Now first off on part 2 of Project 2 Collage Lettering, I exited out of part 1 of Project 2 and opened a new Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document. I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on File. I clicked on Place Embedded on the File tab to place the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. image. I held shift, clicked on the lower left hand corner, held my mouse button, and dragged diagonally downwards towards the edges of the Photoshop document. I clicked on the Move tool to move the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. image to my selected area. I clicked on the Magic Wand tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse over the selected areas that I wanted to place. I clicked and selected the Quick Selection tool. I clicked and dragged the mouse over the image so that the selection mostly is on only Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I clicked on the Magnetic Lasso tool to click on the subtraction icon on the top hand corner of Photoshop. I encircled the parts that I didn't want for the selection. I did this by clicking on one point, moving my mouse around the selection I didn't want, and clicking back to the original point to select or remove the certain selections.  I zoomed in and out using Command Plus and Command Minus on the Macintosh keyboard. I clicked on the addition icon on the top hand corner of Photoshop. I encircled the parts I wanted to add for the selection by clicking on one point, moving my mouse around for the selection I wanted, and clicking back to the original point to add the certain selections. I zoomed in and out again by using Command Plus and Command Minus on the Macintosh keyboard. Once the selection is only on Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., I gone to the Photoshop bar. I clicked on Select to show a tab and clicked on Inverse to make the selection inverted. I gone to the lower right hand corner of Photoshop to click on the mask button. Once I clicked on the mask button, a masked appeared showing the silhouette of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Also, the silhouette image was linked to the original image. Now, I searched up images online that in my mind symbolize Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I saved all of the selected images into the computer files. After that, I gone back to Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 to go to the Photoshop bar. I clicked on File on the Photoshop bar which opened a tab so that I could click on Place Embedded to place the images symbolizing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. A window appeared showing me all the images symbolizing Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. in the computer files. I clicked on the first image which was a peace sign and pressed OK. The image was placed on the Photoshop document. I held down shift, went to the lower right hand corner of the image, clicked and held down the mouse button, dragged diagonally upwards, and released when the size was desirable. I had hit enter to confirm the size. I clicked on the Move tool to move the image on the mask inside the area of the silhouette. I did this for all of the rest of the images until the silhouette was filled up. Finally I moved the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. layer to the top so that the mask could envelop the images and rearranged my image layers to its selected place in the layers panel. I saved my Photoshop document. Knowing how to use a path and mask is useful for web designers when creating artwork of their own or for others. Knowing how to use a path can help you make decorative ads to advertise a product too.

Lab 6 Vector Shapes Drawing Reflection Journal

In this lab, I used vector shapes to create a reimagining of my jack-o-lantern drawing on Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. First, I opened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Secondly, I gone on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 bar and clicked on File. Thirdly, I clicked on New on the File tab which created a window to pop-up. This window allowed my to adjust the settings of the Photoshop document. I named my Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document "LB6_WeiJianZhen_VD" and used the default settings. I clicked on File again and clicked on Open this time to select my jack-o-lantern drawing. A window popped up showing me a list of files in the Macintosh computer. I clicked on the jack-o-lantern drawing file and clicked OK to have the image onto the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 document. I duplicated the jack-o-lantern drawing by right clicking on its layer and clicking on duplicate layer. I clicked on one eye next to the jack-o-lantern layer copy to hide that layer for future reference. Next I changed the color on the color panel of Photoshop to brown and clicked on the Vector Shapes tool on the left side of the Photoshop program to select it. Then I clicked on the Ellipse tool to select it and create a circle on the Photoshop document by dragging top left to bottom right. I clicked on the Move tool to click on the circle and drag it to the top of the stem. I clicked on the Vector Shapes tool again to click on Rounded Rectangular Triangle. After that, I clicked and dragged the mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner to create a rounded rectangular shape. I clicked on the Move tool again and moved the rounded rectangular shape onto the stem of my jack-o-lantern drawing. I changed the color to orange after that. Afterwards, I clicked on Vector Shapes tool to select the Ellipse tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from top left to bottom right to create five ellipses. I used the Move tool to drag and place the ellipses onto the selected spots as the body of the jack-o-lantern. I changed the color to yellow thereafter. I clicked on the Vector Shapes tool and clicked on Custom Shapes to select it. Once the Custom Shapes were selected, I clicked on the panel on the top hand of Photoshop that says "Shape" to make a panel showing some of the custom shapes. I clicked on the gear button to show a tab to click on "All" to show all of the custom shapes. I clicked on the triangle shape which had a base that was pointing to the bottom. I clicked and dragged the mouse diagonally downwards to create a orange triangle. I right clicked on the orange triangle layer. I clicked duplicate layer to duplicate the orange triangle layer and have another triangle that is identical to the first one. I clicked on the Move tool to place the triangles on the selected areas. Afterwards, I clicked and selected a triangle with its base pointing upwards from the Shape panel. I created one of the base pointed upwards triangle shape by clicking and dragging the mouse diagonally down from top left to bottom right. I selected the move tool again and placed the different triangle to its selected spot. I created, used, and moved to their selected spots using the Move tool a combination of upward and downward based triangles for the mouth of the jack-o-lantern.  I changed the color to dark purple. Furthermore, I clicked on the ellipse shapes tool to place create two big ellipses that were bigger than the body of the jack-o-lantern giving it a outline, by clicking and dragging the mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally. I thereafter clicked on the rounded rectangular shape tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally to create the rounded rectangular shape. I did this multiple times to get multiple rounded rectangular shapes. I selected the Move tool and dragged the shapes to their selected placements. I changed the color to black.  I then clicked on the Rectangular Shapes tool in the Vector Shapes tool. I clicked and dragged my mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner diagonally to create a rectangle. I repeated this process again to make another rectangle. The rectangles are used as the night sky. I changed the color to grey. Finally I clicked on the Text tool. I clicked and dragged the mouse from top left to bottom right to create a textbox. I typed in the textbox "Wei Jian Zhen Visual Design 11/13/2017". I saved my document because I was finished with the project. Knowing how to use vector shapes is important to web designers because it allows them to create better art and designs in their websites.

Lab 9 blending options for layer styles reflection journal

In this lab, I used blending options for layer styles and for texts. First up on how I did it, I opened Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Second off, I clicked on File on the Photoshop bar and clicked on New to open a window that shows the settings for the Photoshop document. Thirdly, I set the settings to default and clicked OK. Next I clicked on the Text tool. I then clicked and dragged my mouse on the Photoshop document to create a textbox from top left to bottom right. I typed in my name in the textbox which was Wei Jian Zhen. After that I right clicked on the text layer to select blending options. A window popped up which showed me the settings for blending options for layers styles which appeared every time I clicked on blending options. Afterwards, I selected Bevel and Emboss for the text layer to place that layer style on the text which made lighter and darker tones or colors to the texts. Furthermore, I created another textbox just like the first one and typed in my name again. I right clicked on the second layer to click on blending options.  I selected Bevel and Emboss and Stroke to make the text have an outline. Therefore, I created another identical textbox and typed in my name in it. I duplicated the layer 3 times to get a total of 6 textbox layers. I moved all the textboxes to its selected areas so that the texts are readable. For the third textbox, I right clicked on its layer and clicked on blending options. I selected Bevel and Emboss, Stroke, Inner Shadow, and Inner Glow. For the fourth box, I right clicked on its layer to click on blending options. I selected Satin to the text layer to make the text blend with another color. I right clicked on the fifth layer to click on blending options again. I selected Color Overlay to place a color different from the text color. I right clicked on the last layer to click on blending options. I selected Pattern Overlay, Outer Glow, and Drop Shadow to place a entirely different color onto the text with a shadow with the text. Finally, I saved my project. Knowing how to use blending options can be useful for web designers because you can be able to create logos for yourself or for others. Another way that knowing how to use blending options can be useful is when you have to create ads which creating colors and patterns for texts can attract viewers to see those ads. Furthermore, you can write books that use blending options to create stylized effects or wacky ways to emphasize your texts and sentences. It could especially be useful in children's books because of the emphasized theme of children's books. Words like KAPPO or WAZOOM could be decorated in blending options to further emphasize their meaning. Also, web designers could make art out of blending options because of the different styles to texts. For example, web designers could make a zebra pattern of their words with a rainbow coloration along with whatever else they had created for their art. They could use the text with blending options as the art itself too!

Lab 8 Mask Layer Turkey Card Reflection Journal

In this lab, I created a Thanksgiving turkey card by using Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. First I opened Photoshop CC 2017 on the Macintosh computer. Second I gone to the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 bar and clicked on File and to New. Clicking New opened a window allowing me to set my settings for the new Photoshop document. I typed in "LB8_WeiJianZhen_VD" and used the default settings. I clicked OK to confirm my settings. Secondly, I gone to the Photoshop bar again and clicked File again. I clicked on Open from the File tab. It showed me a window that showed all my files and I selected my turkey picture. I pressed OK to confirm that I want the picture on the Photoshop document. Thirdly I clicked on the Quick Selection tool to select it. I clicked and dragged the mouse on the turkey making a selection for only just the turkey. I pressed on the subtraction icon for the Quick Selection tool to subtract the selections I made that weren't a part of the turkey. I clicked and dragged the selection tool onto the selections that weren't part of the turkey and erased it from the photo. Once only the turkey is selected, I gone to the Photoshop bar and clicked on Select. I clicked on Inverse on the Select tab to have the selection be inversed. I unlocked the turkey layer which was the background layer and duplicated the layer. After that I created a mask by clicking on the mask button on the lower right hand corner of the photoshop document. This created a link between the turkey layer and the mask. After that I clicked on the turkey image which was not the mask image. Thereafter, I clicked on Filter at the Photoshop bar and clicked on photo gallery to select a filter for the background of the turkey. I selected Dry Brush, selected the settings for the filter by dragging the slides from left to right or right to left, and clicked OK to confirm the Filter. The background of the turkey now had the filter on looking like the background was dry paint. Next I gone to the Photoshop tab and clicked on Filter again to select Blur this time. I blurred the background making the turkey look more pronounced. I clicked on motion blur on the filter tab to place motion blur on the background. This made the turkey look like it was moving fast on the area that it was on. Finally I clicked on the Text Box tool to create a textbox. I typed into the textbox "Happy Thanksgiving :D". I clicked on Image at the Photoshop bar,  gone down from the image tab to Canvas Size, and clicked on it. Photoshop showed me a window where I could adjust the setting of the canvas size or the area where I can do my work on. I selected pixels for the height and selected 100% for it. I clicked on Relative to make the canvas size relative to the rest of the layer. I clicked the down arrow button and clicked OK to confirm. The canvas size had now changed making a blank space on the top of the turkey image so that I can make it into a card later by folding it in half. I clicked File to Save as to save the project. I also took a screenshot of the project to show it to you viewers! Knowing how to use masks and filters can be useful to web designers because it allows web designers to make better ads that market a product. It also allows web designers make better art using filters on Photoshop.

Lab 7 Filters Reflection

In this lab, I used filters and liquefied images to get the selected photos I wanted which were drastically different than from each photo. First I opened up Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Next I clicked on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 tab on the top of the screen to go to File and New. Once I clicked on New, a window opened up to allow me to set my settings on the new Photoshop file. I named my file "LB7_WeiJianZhen_VD" and selected the default settings. I clicked OK. The window closed and now I got to work on my lab project. I gone to the Photoshop tab again and clicked on File again. On the File tab, I clicked on Place Embedded and a window popped up showing me all my files. I clicked on the selfie I used on Project 1 Warhol which I took on the Macintosh computer.
Project Warhol Blog:http://qwfepfp.blogspot.com/2017/10/project-1-warhol-reflection-journal.html
I pressed OK to place the selfie onto the new Photoshop document. After that I held shift, clicked on the lower right hand corner of the selfie image, and dragged diagonally towards the upper left hand corner of the photo until I had the right image adjustments to make the selfie smaller in size. I used the move tool after that to reposition the adjusted image to a selected spot. I clicked on the selfie layer and double clicked on the name of the selfie layer to rename it to Liquify. I hit enter to confirm the name. I clicked on the Liquify layer again to select it. Then I gone to the Photoshop tab and clicked on Filter. I clicked on Liquify on the filter tab to select it. A window showed up allowing me to adjust the selfie image using the Pucker, Bloat, Twist, and Forward Warp edit tools. Once I done all the adjustment towards the selfie image with the edit tools, I clicked OK to confirm my adjustments and made the window close. After that I clicked on the text box tool to select it. I created a textbox by clicking and dragging my mouse at a spot from top left to bottom right. I typed in the word Liquify. Afterwards I clicked on the move tool and dragged the text to my desired spot. Now I Placed Embedded again to place a new photo in the Photoshop document. That photo was a photo that was taken during the nature walk for Lab 1 but had never been uploaded until now. It was a flower photo. I clicked OK to confirm the upload of the picture. I held down shift, clicked and held down the mouse on a corner of the photo, and dragged it diagonally until I got the desired image size. I duplicated that layer 4 times by right clicking on the image and clicking duplicate layer multiple times. I used the Move tool to place the images onto their selected placements. I clicked on the original image layer. After that I gone to the Photoshop tab and clicked Filter again. I clicked on Filter Gallery this time which showed a window where I can select a filter I wanted. Therefore I clicked on the cutout filter design to have the original flower photo to have a cutout filter. I pressed OK to confirm the action. After that I clicked and selected the Text Box tool to create another textbox. I typed in Cutout inside the textbox. I double clicked on the original flower photo layer and renamed the original flower photo layer to Cutout. I did the same thing to the rest of the layers but selected different filters and renamed them by the filter I chose. After that, I unlocked the background layer. Next I double clicked on the layer to rename the layer to Sky Background. Once that is done, I changed the color palette to blue and white. I clicked on Filter on the Photoshop Tab. I clicked on Render on the Filter tab to select the Clouds option. I gone to the Photoshop tab again and clicked on Filter. I clicked on Render on the Filter tab and clicked on Lens Flare. A window popped up for me to select the settings off the sun and where to place the sun. I placed the sun on the top right hand corner and set the brightness to 115. I clicked OK to confirm it. Finally, I used the Text Box tool to create 2 textboxes. I typed in my name in one and in the other, Visual Design and the date. I saved my photoshop document as a finalized work. Knowing how to use filters will benefit web designers because it allows web designers to make better ads for websites and images that catch the reader's attention.

Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 Brushes Reflection Journal

In this lab, I used Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 to use the Paint Brush Tool to color in my artwork that I did in class the other day. I got my finished product by first opening Adobe Photoshop CC 2017.  Next I clicked on File on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 tab and clicked on Open to place the picture of the artwork into Adobe Photoshop CC 2017. Then I clicked on the two squares icon to change the color for the artwork. I changed my color to black. After that I clicked on the paintbrush tool on the Adobe Photoshop CC 2017 toolbox at the left side to select it. Once I selected my paintbrush tool, I outlined my artwork by clicking and dragging my mouse around my artwork. I used Command Plus and Minus to zoom in and zoom out from time to time to try to make precise outlines for my artwork. After that, I turned the color to brown and colored in my stem of my jack-o-lantern drawing using the paintbrush tool by moving the mouse back and forth until the stem was colored in. Afterwords I changed the color to orange. I clicked and used the magnetic lasso tool to make a selection for one of the jack-o-lantern's ribs so that I can only color within the selection and not worry about having to go past what I wanted to color in. I selected the paintbrush tool again and colored the rib orange until the entire rib was filled with orange. I realized that the magnetic lasso tool wasn't that effective in my jack-o-lantern artwork because the orange smudged out some of the black outlines I made for the jack-o-lantern. I decided to use the magic wand and quick selection tool to make the rest of my selections because it made less of a space within the ribs allowing me to color in my jack-o-lantern without any smudges passed the selection. I selected the paintbrush tool and colored the rest of the jack-o-lantern's ribs orange. I made selections by the magic wand tool and quick selection tool on the ribs before I colored in the ribs orange so that I don't color past the selections I made. Once all the ribs have been finished coloring with orange, I changed the color to yellow. I used the paintbrush tool to color in the jack-o-lantern's eyes, nose, and wicked mouth yellow so that it shows light coming out of the jack-o-lantern. I first selected the magic wand and quick selection tool to place selections on the jack-o-lantern's eyes, nose, and mouth. Secondly, I used the paintbrush tool again and colored in the jack-o-lantern's eyes, nose, and mouth within the selections. After all coloring of yellow was done, I turned the color to reddish-orange. I selected the smaller ribs by the magic wand tool and quick selection tool. I colored in the smaller ribs reddish-orange using the paintbrush tool. Afterwards, I changed the color to dark purple. I clicked on the paintbrush tool  to select it. I clicked and dragged the mouse around the jack-o-lantern to try to create a lighting effect from the jack-o-lantern. I changed to color to black again. I clicked on the magic wand tool and clicked on the remaining white or blank areas outside the jack-o-lantern to selected it. I clicked on the quick selection tool to click and fill in any areas that weren't selected by the magic wand tool. When I had the background of the jack-o-lantern selected, I clicked on the paintbrush tool to selected it. I clicked and dragged all the way until all the selected areas were colored in with black serving as the night. Finally I saved my finalized project! Knowing how to use the paintbrush tool can benefit web designers because it allows for web designers to produce artwork and painting for their projects. It also allows web designers to try different art styles for artwork, videos, and animations which helps with their jobs.
