In this lab I used the program Adobe InDesign to participate in the chapter 8 practice quiz. First off, I opened up Adobe InDesign in the computer. Secondly, I clicked on File from the InDesign bar at the top hand corner. Thirdly, I clicked on New from the File tab to make a new document. A window popped up allowing me to set the InDesign settings of the document. I named the document "Chapter 8 Quiz" and set the settings to default. Next, I scrolled down to the chapter 8 quiz section of the Adobe CC Design Basics v18 PDF. (Link down below ↓ ↓ ↓) Once I got an understanding of the instructions, I went back to Adobe InDesign to do chapter 8 quiz. Then I clicked on the Pen tool from the InDesign toolbox to select the tool and do the first task of chapter 8 quiz. I started at one point at the top left hand corner of the InDesign document. I clicked the mouse button, held the mouse button, dragged the mouse from that clicked point to another point, released the mouse button, dragged my mouse vertically, and clicked on a point to place a curved line. After that, I clicked on the end of the curved line, held my mouse button, dragged my mouse over to the other end of the curved line, and released to make my best attempt at a black banana as it says on the PDF. I clicked on the Direct Selection tool to select the tool. I clicked on the lines of the black banana, held the mouse button, and dragging the mouse to the desired location to try to make the black bananana more realistic/ideal. Now for activity 2 on chapter 8 quiz, I clicked on the Rectangle tool to select the tool for the assignment. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse from a top left hand corner to a bottom right hand corner. That created a rectangle. I clicked on the Text tool from the InDesign toolbox to select the Text tool. I clicked on one point above the rectangle, held down the mouse button, and dragged the mouse diagonally downwards to a point below the rectangle surrounding the rectangle with a text box. Therefore, I clicked on Window from the Adobe InDesign bar to click on Text Wrap. Now with the rectangle selected, I clicked on Wrap Around Object Shape to have the text wrap around the rectangle. I also set a 0.09 inch offset for the text wrap. Thereafter, I began to type to fill in the text box. I completed activity 2 and initiated the next activity. I clicked on the Text tool from the InDesign toolbox to select the tool. I clicked, held, and dragged the mouse from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner to create a textbox. I typed in 2 paragraphs with headings. I clicked on Window to Styles to Paragraph Styles from the InDesign bar. A window appeared allowing me to make 2 different paragraph styles. I set the 2 different paragraph styles to have different fonts and styles. I highlighted the headings with the mouse and chose 1 paragraph style for it. I highlighted the paragraphs with the other paragraph style. I was complete with activity 3. Lastly, I created a new textbox while the mouse was still selecting the Text tool. I typed in 123 for 4 times. I typed in fido multiple times with the last one having the letters spaced out. I gone to the InDesign bar and clicked on Window. I clicked on Type and Tables to Glyphs from the Window tab. A window popped up allowing me to place the desired characters for the last activity by double clicking on the symbols. I completed the chapter 8 quiz and saved my work. Knowing how to use Adobe InDesign will be beneficial to web designers because it can allow the designer to make texts related projects and stories based on the tools from InDesign.
