WBL Workshop 1 Introduction/ Overview) RJ Senior Year

On September 23, 2019 I came to the library/CCEC of my school to do a Work Based Learning (WBL) workshop. I sat down and listened to the speeches the speakers presented to the audience. The most important points of the workshop was about general WBL knowledge, internships, and jobs.  It was basically the same thing as before. These skills like knowing how to do job interviews are important for a web designer because it help web designers secure a job and make a living off what they are doing.

CW What Does a CTE Diploma Means To Me Blog

A Regents diploma is a regular high school diploma while an advanced Regents diploma is a special high school diploma that demonstrates more skills and knowledge than a regular Regents diploma. To get a New York City Regents diploma, students must pass 5 exams with a 65 or above. The subjects are English Language Arts (ELA), 1 math exam whether it be Algebra 1, Trigonometry/Algebra 2, or Geometry, 1 social studies exam in either United States History and Government or Global History and Geography, 1 science exam whether it be Physics, Chemistry, Living Environment, or Earth Science, and another additional exam to get the Regents diploma.  Now for a New York City advanced Regents diploma, students must pass with a score of 65 or above in 9 subjects (as mentioned in the regular Regents diploma and more). Those subjects are ELA, 3 math exams, 1 social studies exam, 2 science exams, 1 New York City Languages Other Than English (LOTE) exam, and another additional exam to get the advanced regents diploma.

A Regents diploma requires 44 class credits in various subjects as well in order to graduate from a New York City high school. The subjects are ELA, math, science, social studies, foreign language, physical education, arts education, health education, and electives. An advanced Regents require 44 class credits in various subjects so that students can graduate from a New York City high school. The subjects are the same as a regular Regents diploma but there are more credits required in language and fewer requirements in electives. The work inputted to the students is just as much effort in a regular Regents diploma than in an advanced Regents diploma.

A Career and Technical Education (CTE) diploma/endorsement would cut the credits of LOTE to 2 from 6 of an advanced Regents diploma. A regular Regents diploma has little to no effect on credits for the students. Getting a CTE endorsement will require the students to sign forms and contracts. The facilitator will get to choose their students who meet their standards and requirements. Achieving a CTE endorsement would benefit me personally by allowing myself to be able to work in programming, even at the lowest level. The unique benefits of obtaining the CTE endorsement through the Web Design Academy are being able to learn about programming and graphics design in a professional learning environment and be a workable adult professionally when the student graduates with a CTE diploma.

Blog Intro/My Bio #2

Salutations everyone! My name is Wei Jian Zhen, and I am an aspiring programmer. I go to Informational Technology High School to learn. Most importantly, I go to Informational Technology High School to be educated about programming. I am in 12th grade, and I am in the Career and Technical Education (CTE) program. The CTE program teaches students how to program and prepares them for professional work/life. It also teaches students in the program skills that can prove useful in life such as time management and dedication.

I'm in the CTE program because I want to expand my knowledge of programming. I want to learn to code so that I can become a computer programmer and/or game developer. Although, I know that it is going to take a lot of effort and determination to be a satisfactory programmer. Furthermore, I aspire to improve my skills so that I can be the very best person I can or envision to be. Also, my hobbies are playing video games and watching YouTube videos.
